HERSHEY, Pa. – The Post University women's ice hockey team was defeated by Lebanon Valley 5-1 on the road Saturday night in Hershey, Pa. Freshman
Kendall Fitzgerald (Kamloops, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season in the loss.
Lebanon Valley struck first in the opening period as Liz D'Ginto scored the first of her two goals on the night midway through the period. The Eagles got off nine shots in the opening frame led by senior
Brina Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) with three shots.
The Dutchmen added three more goals in the second and an early goal in the third to grab control of the game.
Fitzgerald broke up the shutout with just 13 seconds remaining in the contest. Freshmen
Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) and
Julia Schatz (East Haven, Conn.) each had assists on the goal.
The Eagles were outshot 49-25 and Fitzgerald led Post with five shots on the night. She also won a team-high 11 faceoffs. Freshmen
Samantha Griswold (Park City, Utah) and
Mikaella Doran (Eden Mills, Vt.) combined for 44 saves on the night.
The teams face each other again tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
