Waterbury, Conn. – Sophomore
Cailah Baranowski (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished with 11 saves as the Post University women's soccer team played Georgian Court – the top team in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference – to a scoreless tie on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
With the tie, the Eagles move to 4-5-1 on the season and 4-3-1 in the CACC. Georgian Court is now 7-3-1 this season overall, and 6-1-1 in the CACC.
The Lions outshot the Eagles in the first half, 9-3, but Baranowski was up to the task, stopping all six shots on net, including back-to-back shots in front of the net in the 16
th minute from Amanda Astudillo and Kaitlin Lister.
In the second half, the Eagles had their best chance in the 50
th minute as a shot from freshman
Hope Wilson (Mahopac, N.Y.) to an empty net was cleared by a Georgian Court defender, leading to a corner kick.
"Cailah was excellent for us today and has been very good all season," Coach
Matt Micros said. "She's certainly paid her dues the last couple of years. Defensively we were good today. Effort was good overall as the girls stepped up with [junior
Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) out and a couple of others nursing injuries."
Up next for the Eagles is an out-of-conference game against Merrimack on October 10 at 3 p.m.
