Bloomfield, N.J. – Senior
Sylvia Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) and freshman
Fitore Kllobocishta (Watertown, Conn.) each scored first half goals to propel the Post University women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Bloomfield in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Tuesday evening.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Eagles, who are now 4-5 overall and 4-3 in the CACC. Bloomfield is now 0-10 and 0-7, respectively.
Post got on the board midway through the first half in the 27
th minute as Yanez beat goalkeeper Emira Sela for her fifth goal of the season. It was her first goal since a hat trick against Nyack on September 14.
Kllobocishta would then continue her torrid rookie pace in the 37
th minute as she scored her fifth goal of the season, her second in as many games.
It wasn't just the offense that came up big for the Eagles as goalkeeper
Cailah Baranowski (Naugatuck, Conn.) came up with six saves for the Eagles, her most since saving 16 shots against Holy Family on September 24.
Coach
Matt Micros was pleased with the performance by the team despite missing junior
Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) and senior
Brooke Lawlor (Rocky Hill, Conn.). "Good win on the road while missing two of our captains who were out sick," Micros said. "It meant we had some people playing out of position, but the girls did well. Our goal is to improve each game.
Up next for the Eagles is a CACC home game against Georgian Court on October 8 at noon.
