WATERBURY, Conn.- The Post University Eagles took down Georgian Court 3-0 at the Drubner Center on Saturday afternoon, 25-14, 25-12, 25-10. Post is now 10-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and 18-3 overall while Georgian Court falls to 7-3 in the CACC and 10-12 overall.
Senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) dominated in the early going for Post recording eight of her team high 14 kills in the first set. The visitors hung with the top ranked Eagles off the bat until an enormous 10-0 run propelled the Eagles to a 25-14 victory in the set and they never looked back.
In the second Post came out firing, beginning the game with a 9-1 run. Senior
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had a team-high five kills in the set aided by 13 assists from sophomore
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.). Root finished the day with 38 assists. The Eagles maintained a solid lead throughout and Griffin capped the set with a kill.
The third set was more of the same as Post dominated yet again. Sophomore
Sarah Seger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was sensational from the service line recording a season high seven aces in the match. The most in a single match for an Eagle since 2011.
Morgan Griffin with 15 digs and
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) added 11 kills and five blocks.
The Eagles next match will be on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Concordia. Match will begin at 7pm. Post defeated the Clippers 3-0 in their earlier meeting this season.
