PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University men's soccer team saw its five-match unbeaten streak end on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 loss at Philadelphia. The Eagles are 5-6-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with four games remaining in the regular season.
The Eagles pressured the Rams' defense early and often with five shots over the opening 15 minutes of the first half. Junior
David Ortiz Correa (Envigado, Colombia) had a shot on goal early on and later nearly connected with senior
Mikail Ellis (San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago) on a corner kick. Post outshot Philadelphia 8-2 in the first half.
The Rams nearly broke the scoreless tie in the 49
th minute, but senior
Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) made a stop on a penalty kick by Armando Canela. Jason Rocha headed in a rebound off the crossbar in the 61
st minute for the game-winner.
Post held a 12-8 advantage in shots led by Ellis with three shots. Senior
Abdallah Bah (St. Paul, Minn.) and Ortiz each had one shot on goal. Hanlon made two saves.
The Eagles visit Felician on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
