CALDWELL, N.J. – The Post University men's basketball team was defeated by Caldwell 75-51 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road game on Tuesday night. The Eagles are now 9-8 on the season and 5-5 in conference play.
Post dominated the early part of the first half as it ran out to a 17-2 lead with 14:32 left in the period. Sophomore
Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) could not miss during the run as he was 5-for-5 and scored 13 points. The Eagles defense forced five turnovers out of the gate to help build the lead.
The tides turned from there as Caldwell grabbed control of the game with an 18-3 run to tie the score at 20 with 7:23 remaining in the half. The Cougars led by as many as 12 down the stretch and took a 36-27 lead into the half.
Sophomore
Isaiah Kemp (Astoria, N.Y.) nailed an early three in the second half off a pass from freshman
Adnan Halilovich (Mali Zvornik, Serbia) to cut the deficit to single-digits, but the Eagles would not get any closer.
Desrosiers led Post with 15 points. Junior
Damani Ashton (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) added 10 points off the bench. Sophomore
Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) scored six points and dished out three assists in his first action since November. Halilovich grabbed a team high seven rebounds.
The Eagles look to get back on track on Thursday as they visit Concordia at 7 p.m.
