Post Men’s Basketball Falls Short Against Philadelphia, 76-69

Eagles nearly erase 19-point second half deficit

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team was defeated at home by Philadelphia 76-69 on Friday afternoon. The Eagles now sit at 9-7 overall and 5-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
 
After struggling from the field in the first half, Post picked it up in the second half as they cut a 19-point deficit to just five points in the final minutes. Senior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) led the Eagles with 22 points and six rebounds.
 
With 9:37 left in the game, Post found itself down 63-44 after three pointer by the Rams. Seymour, who was 7-of-10 from the floor in the second half, nailed a three of his own to spark a 19-5 stretch for the Eagles.
 
Sophomore Jah'sheme Ringgold (Easton, Md.) quickly drove into the lane after a turnover by Philadelphia with 1:29 left a made a layup while drawing a foul. He sunk the free-throw as Post trailed just 68-63. The Rams made a three-point play on the other end to grab back momentum and the Eagles would not get closer.
 
In the first half every time Post made a run, the Rams answered with a run of their own. Back-to-back threes by Seymour and sophomore Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) pulled the score to 22-17 late in the period. The Eagles would get as close as four points until the Rams closed the half on 13-5 run.
 
Desrosiers added 15 points, five rebounds, and four steals. He also had a team-high four steals as Post forced 19 turnovers, the most for Philadelphia this season.
 
The Eagles grabbed 21 offensive rebounds, but were outrebounds 40-34 on the day.
 
Post returns to action on Tuesday night as the Eagles visit Caldwell at 8 p.m.
