Old Westbury, N.Y. - A goal from junior Sylvia Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) in the 17th minute kicked off the scoring for the 2015 Post University women's soccer season, but it was not enough as the Eagles dropped a 2-1 decision to New York Institute of Technology of the East Coast Conference on Thursday afternoon.

The Eagles are 0-1 on the season.

Yanez scored as she snuck behind NYIT goalie Brianna Bollettieri for the 1-0 lead.

The Bears answered quickly on a goal from Dina Simonian in the 19th minute - beating senior Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash) - to the the game, 1-1. 

In the 23rd minute, the Bears took the lead as Taylor Casey took a pass from the right side from Fran Glenny who put it past Morgan for the 2-1 lead.

The Bears (1-0) outshot the Eagles, 6-3 in the first half and 11-4 overall as Post did not get many offensive opportunities the second half of the game. Yanez took three of the four shots for the Eagles. Senior Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) had the other. 

Up next for the Eagles is their first home game of the season against Pace at LaMoy Field. The game starts at noon.
