RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Post women's volleyball team continued to roll in conference play on Wednesday night with a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road victory over Felician. Senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) led the Eagles with 15 kills on the night.
After falling behind 3-2 in the first set, Post scored seven of the next eight points to jump ahead 9-4. Griffin was hot from the start with four kills early on. Felician answered back to tie the score 13-13 before the Eagles opened up an eight-point lead at 23-15. Juniors
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) and
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) teamed up on three blocks during the stretch as Post took the first set 25-18.
Post staged a 5-0 run with the score tied at three to take control of the second set. The Griffin sisters combined for five kills as the Eagles extended their advantage to 15-6. Back-to-back service aces by senior
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) gave Post its largest lead of the set at 22-8. The Golden Falcons made it interesting by closing the gap to 23-19 before the Eagles closed out the set.
The Eagles never trailed in the final set on the way to their tenth consecutive CACC win. Junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) had five of her 10 kills in the set. A kill by Brown gave Post its largest lead of the set at 16-10. The Eagles scored the final three points to win 25-19.
Freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) and Alvarez had team highs with 17 digs and three aces each. Root also added 35 assists; she currently has 144 more assists than anyone else in the conference. Brown recorded seven kills and five block assists.
Post returns home on Saturday in a CACC cross-division matchup with Wilmington. Game time at Drubner is set for 1 p.m.
