WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team finished its four game homestand undefeated on Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over Stonehill. The Eagles won by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-10 to improve to 9-4 on the season.
Post opened up a 10-4 lead in the first set after a solo block by junior
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.). Stonehill closed the deficit to 18-16. Senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) scored three straight kills as the Eagles upped their lead to 23-16 with five straight points and the Skyhawks were unable to recover.
In set two, a kill by junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) gave Post a 15-11 advantage but Stonehill battled back with five point to take a 16-15 lead. With the score tied at 21, two kills by German and one by Griffin helped the Eagles roll to a 25-21 victory.
The Eagles rolled in the final set and scored eight straight points out of the gate. Junior
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) aced a serve to put Post ahead 10-1. Stonehill didn't have an answer for Post in the set and the Eagles scored six of the final seven points for the win.
German led Post with 13 kills and
Hailey Griffin added 12 and nine digs. Freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) recorded 35 assists. The Eagles had seven service aces with German and
Morgan Griffin leading the way with three and two, respectively.
The have a quick turnaround as they visit Felician tomorrow night looking for their 11
th consecutive CACC victory. First serve in Rutherford, N.J. is set for 7 p.m.
