PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In the A flight of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional on Saturday, junior
Diana Perez (Miami, Fla.) and sophomore
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) both advanced in singles and doubles.
Dubrovskaya defeated Iman Williams-Mulesa of Chestnut Hill 6-3, 6-2. The sophomore was the B flight champion a year ago. Perez earned a walkover victory over Sumeera Kamil of Queens. Freshman
Madison Young (Wellington, New Zealand) battled Victoria Quang of USciences but fell in a tiebreaker 6-3, 0-6 (10-2).
On the doubles side, Dubrovskaya and Perez teamed up to defeat Philadelphia duo Julia Arruda and Jala Hamada 8-0. In the second round the two were defeated by Costanza Mecchi and Huai-Hsuan Huang of Concordia 8-3.
In the B flight, freshman
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) and
Jamie Wilkin (Wallkill, N.Y.) team up to defeat Lauren Makechine and Sophea Sindorf from Southern New Hampshire 8-6, but fell in the second round.
On the men's side in A flight doubles, sophomore
Martin Munoz (Claret, Spain) and Nikola Crevlin advanced to the third round after wins over doubles teams from Southern New Hampshire (8-4) and Chestnut Hill (9-8 (7-5)).
Senior
Peter Fanous (Cairo, Egypt) and sophomore
Ludvig Henrikson (Sweden) earned an 8-5 victory over Belford and Majewski of Merrimack. The two were defeated 8-2 in the second round to Mao and Ginat of Concordia.
