Eagles Create Chances, But Unable To Defeat Chestnut Hill

Post Outshoots Griffins 22-7

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's soccer team lost a tough match at home on Saturday afternoon 1-0 against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Chestnut Hill. The Eagles outshot the Griffins 22-7 on the day.

"Today was a difficult loss. We played one of our best games of the year and created loads of chances, but couldn't finish. That's just how it goes sometimes in this game," said head coach Ted Haley.

The Eagles created chances and pressured the Chestnut Hill defense all day. Freshman Andre Riello (Sao Paolo Brazil) had two early shots on goal.

The Griffins got on the board in the 30th minute. Nicholas Jaffe booted a free kick from 30 yards out past a diving Serigne Baba Gaye (Dakar, Senegal). Senior Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) had a shot on target late in the half but was unable to finish.

Post continued to have chances in the second half. Senior Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) was just wide on a shot from close range in the 61st minute.

Sophomore Stefan Tomasevic (London, England) nearly connected on a header in the 73rd minute. Sastre also had a chance late in the game on a free kick from just outside the box that was blocked by the defense.

"I told the guys to stay positive because we have tons of quality on this team and the wins will come. We are really looking forward to Tuesday against Caldwell," added Haley.

Sastre led Post with five shots. Riello had four chances, all on goal.

Post returns to action at Caldwell on Tuesday. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
