WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's soccer team was defeated by Concordia 2-1 at LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon. Graduate student
Anthony Asante (Bronx, N.Y.) scored his Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leading fourth goal of the season in loss.
Asante put the Eagles on top early. In the fifth minute he took the ball from the defense, made a move on the Concordia keeper and booted it home to put Post in front 1-0.
Post had a few chances to extend its lead in the first half as shots by seniors
Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) and
Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) were saved. The Clippers tied the score on header off a free kick late in the first half.
The Eagles looked like they were going to break the tie early in the second half as a free kick by freshman
Andre Riello (Sao Paolo, Brazil) hit the crossbar. Post's best chance came in the 55
th minute as sophomore
David Ortiz Correa's (Envigado, Colombia) shot was saved and Sastre was unable to put in the rebound.
Nabeel Qawasmi scored the winner for Concordia in the 65
th minute. Post outshot the Clippers 11-8 on the day and 5-4 on goal.
Chestnut Hill comes to town on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2:30 as Post closes out its three-game homestand.
