Eagles Take Out Brooms Against Nyack In Doubleheader Sweep

Wins Put Post Over .500 For The Season

Pomona, N.Y. – Freshman Alex Wright (Butler, N.J.) led off game one with a homer and the Eagles never looked back as they swept the Nyack Warriors in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader, 13-3 and 4-2 in a doubleheader Saturday night.

The Eagles now improve to 15-14 overall and 10-4 in the CACC.

Wright's homer was part of an overall big game one, as he finished 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. The Eagles scored three runs in the first as junior Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) also doubled home two runs.

Post increased its lead to 6-0 over the first three innings after an RBI single from Wright and a sac fly from freshman Maxime Robillard (Blainville, Quebec) in the second, followed by an RBI single from junior Jeff Thoburn (Saint-Lazare, Quebec) in the third.

After Nyack got two runs back in the fourth, the Eagles would capitalize on shoddy defense by the Warriors, scoring four runs in the sixth, including scoring three runs on errors. Wright would drive in another run that inning with an RBI single.

Post would score three more runs in the eighth on an RBI single from sophomore Nick Grasso (Wyckoff, N.J.) and a two-run single by Wright.
Starter Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.) earned the win pitching eight innings, giving up three runs, two earned on seven hits and two walks while striking out four.

Game 2
In game two, the Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to defeat Nyack, 4-2.

Wright, again, was the offensive catalyst; as he tripled home junior Brian McKenna (New York, N.Y.) in the bottom of the third to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Robillard would then follow with an RBI groundout to bring home Wright.

Post would tack on another run in the bottom of the fourth as sophomore Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.) singled home Rodriguez to make it a 3-0 lead.

Nyack would get two runs back in the bottom of the fifth off of starter, grad student Mike Costello (Manassas, Va.).

Post would be able to tack on one more insurance run in the top of the eighth as senior Dylan Pastor (Hewlett, N.Y.) drove home sophomore Joey Picone (Washingtonville, N.Y.) for the final run.

Costello was brilliant on the mound, striking out 12 in his complete game effort. He gave up just two runs on six hits.
