Morgan Scores First Two Career Goals

WATERBURY, Conn. – Junior Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.) of the Post University women's lacrosse team scored the first two goals of her career but the Eagles fell to instate rival Southern Connecticut 16-7 at LaMoy Field on Thursday afternoon.

Freshman Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) put Post on the board with a free-position shot with 17:55 remaining in the first half to cut the deficit to 4-1. Senior Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) hit classmate Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) for her first of three goals on the day.

Rodriguez passed to a cutting Morgan for her first goal of the game just three minutes later to make the score 6-3. Polaski scored once more before the end of the half, but the Eagles trailed 11-4 at the break.

Southern Connecticut pulled in front 16-4 before Post scored the final three goals of the game. Rodriguez hit Morgan again midway through the half. Junior Jordyn Woltmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) scored her fourth of the season also off a pass from Rodriguez. Polaski finished the scoring with a goal in the final minute.

Rodriguez and Polaski each had seven ground balls on the day. Goalkeeper Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) had 10 saves and caused two turnovers. The three assists for Rodriguez were a season-high.
