PREVIEW: Men’s Tennis Makes Second-Straight CACC Tournament Appearance

Eagles Will Play Hosts #2 Chestnut Hill

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team will make its second-straight appearance in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament on Saturday, April 18 as the third-seeded Eagles play the second seed Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, Pa. Post finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-10 and was 3-3 in conference play.
 
The competition begins on Saturday with the semifinals, beginning at 10 a.m., when top-seeded and regular season champion Concordia College takes on fourth-seeded Philadelphia University at 10 a.m. The two semifinal winners will advance to Sunday and the CACC Championship Final, which will be held at 12 p.m.
 
The CACC will provide free, live video web streaming of the conference championship's three matches during the weekend through its official website, CACCAthletics.org. Live updates and scoring will also be provided on the website throughout the weekend, so fans are encouraged to continue checking the website throughout the weekend for constant updates. The winner of the championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament held in late April/early May.
 
SCOUTING THE FIELD
Concordia, ranked No. 6 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Poll, enters the weekend with a 15-4 overall record and a perfect 6-0 mark in CACC play. The Clippers will be led by Benas Majauskas and Jui Mao, who on Wednesday were named the CACC Player and Rookie of the Year, respectively.
 
Chestnut Hill comes into the semifinals with a 5-1 record in conference play, while also sporting a 14-7 overall mark. The Griffins are ranked 49th in the ITA national poll, and are led by freshman Lucas Bocaletto and senior Steven Say, who earned All-CACC First and Second-Team honors, respectively.
 
PhilaU is 10-11 overall and 3-3 in CACC competition, as the Rams will be led by Celso de Vera Rehberger, who earned Second-Team All-CACC honors after the conclusion of the regular season.
 
MUNOZ NAMED ALL-CACC
Freshman Martin Munoz (Las Palmas, Spain) was named First Team All-CACC, becoming the first player in team history to earn first team honors. This season Munoz was 11-8 in singles, 4-1 in conference play all in the top spot. He had an overall record of 7-10 in doubles, but was 3-1 against CACC competition. Munoz has been tremendous as of late, winning six of his last seven in both singles and doubles. On April 15, he was also named ECAC Rookie of the Week after going 3-0 in both singles and doubles during the week.
 
BREAKING RECORDS
This season Post won a program-record 10 matches, breaking the record of eight set in 2014. The third place finish in the conference in the Eagles highest ever.
