Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) knocked a double to left field to open the second inning. First-year
Nicole Venturini (Scituate, R.I.) followed with a single to left to advance Kresley to third with one out, but the Eagles were doubled-up on a fly to right field to end the inning.
Notre Dame did its damage in the top-half of the third, scoring three runs on four hits, one of which a two-run home run by Kelsey Coleman (Suffield, Ohio). Post pushed one across when Schaffer crushed a solo-shot over the center field fence to start the bottom-half of the fourth. Venturini collected two of the five Eagle hits in the game when she reached on another single up the middle. The Eagles would leave two stranded in the inning.
Schaffer worked herself in and out of a bases-load jam in the sixth inning, but the Eagles could not find an answer to Notre Dame's Ashley Hall (North Canton, Ohio) who closed the door in relief. Notre Dame's Ashley Pokraka (Whting, Ind.) was credited as the winning pitcher (1-2) and Prevost was credited with the loss (0-2). Notre Dame improves to 2-5 on the season.
