Leonardi Has Two RBI In Doubleheader, But Eagles Swept

Lantana, Fla. - The Post University Eagles baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday to Felician and Southern New Hampshire, 7-4 and 6-0, respectively.

The Eagles fell to 2-6 on the season.

Post jumped out to an early 3-0 lead against Felician as freshmen Don Walsh (Hamilton, N.J.) and Luke Leonardi (Holbrook, N.Y.) both had RBI singles in the first inning followed by an RBI single by sophomore Joey Picone (Washingtonville, N.Y.) in the top of the second.

Felician would bounce back in the bottom of the second as Nick Vazquez scored on an error, and Dan Bielitz drove in Vazquez with an RBI groundout.

The Golden Falcons would tie the game up in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Branden Shaw. 

The Eagles would take advantage of an error by third baseman Garrett Luna in the top of the sixth off the bat of Leonardi, giving Post the 4-3 lead.

Felician took their first lead in the bottom of the seventh on two bases loaded walks, and would seal the game with two insurance runs in the eighth after an RBI triple by Branden Shaw and an RBI double from Brennan Price.

Starter Troy Terzi was solid, giving up three runs - two earned and striking out three in five innings. Dean White (0-1) was credited with the loss in relief.

Rob Naughton (2-0) received the win for Felician. pitching seven innings and giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out four.

Game Two

In game two against No. 18 Southern New Hampshire, the Penmen jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back their 6-0 win. 

Zach Goldstein had two hits and two RBI with a run scored to lead the Penmen.

The Eagles managed just three hits on the day. Sophomore Evan Devico (Waterbury, Conn.) (1-2) had five strikeouts and gave up three earned runs in six innings.

Alex Person (2-0) got the win, giving up no runs and striking out 11.

Up next for the Eagles is a doubleheader against LIU Post (noon) and Nyack (3:30 p.m.) on Friday.
