Strong Second Half Leads Post Men’s Lacrosse Over Ohio Valley, 15-7

Eagles Earn First Win On The Young Season



PARKERSBURG, W. Va. – The Post University men's lacrosse team earned its first victory of the year on Wednesday afternoon defeating Ohio Valley 15-7. Sophomore Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) scored four goals and added an assist in the win.
 
The Eagles jumped in front 2-0 early in the game after a goal by junior Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) with 12:13 left in the first. Ohio Valley added a man-up goal later in the quarter, but Post led 3-1 after a quarter as Buchas scored his first late in the period.
 
Ohio Valley scored three straight times to start the second quarter to pull in front 4-3. Sophomore Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) tied the score after a turnover by the Fighting Scots, but the home team pulled in front 5-4 with 5:39 left in the half.
 
From there the Eagles took control, scoring seven goals in a row through the third quarter to lead 11-5. Buchas scored three times during the stretch and freshman Frank Nichols Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) and sophomore Chris Cruz (Wayne, N.J.) added their firsts of the year.
 
The Fighting Scots cut the deficit to 11-7 before Post scored the final four goals of the game, two by sophomore Luke McDermott (New Milford, Conn.), to pull out the victory.
 
Shannon scored three goals and had an assist on the day. Blackman scored twice and added an assist. Junior Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) had a goal and two assists.
 
Post outshot Ohio Valley 45-24 in the win and held a 34-26 groundball advantage. Blackman and Treat each picked up six for the Eagles. Senior goalkeeper Anthony DeRosa (Toms River, N.J.) had 10 saves.
 
The Eagles continue their trip through the Mountain State as they visit Alderson Broaddus on Friday afternoon. Face-off in Philippi, W. Va. is set for 3:30 p.m.
