Rodriguez’s Four Goals Not Enough As Eagles Fall To Wilmington

WATERBURY, Conn. – Freshman Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) scored a season-high four goals on Saturday, but the Post University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Wilmington 15-9 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action at LaMoy Field.
 
Rodriguez scored her first goal early as Post took a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats answered with two scored, but the Eagles tied the game 2-2 as senior Miranda Polaski found sophomore Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) with 20:19 left in the first. The duo added another score late in the half as the Eagles trailed 9-3 at the break.
 
Post scored three of the first four goals of the second half. Polaski added her second five minutes into the period. Rodriguez scored back-to-back free-position goals to cut the deficit to 10-6 with 17:40 left. The Wildcats scored twice to extend their lead back out to six.
 
Rodriguez put in her fourth tally of the game with 8:58 left on an extra-man opportunity. Polaski hit Young for another score minutes later bringing the score to 12-8. The senior also added a late goal as time expired.
 
Senior Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) picked up a team-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Polaski grabbed six draw controls. She is currently 10th in the NCAA in ground balls per game.
 
Post returns to action on Tuesday, March 31 against Georgian Court. Game time in Lakewood, N.J. is set for 3:30 p.m.
