Post Drops Hard-Fought Game Against No. 7 LIU-Post

Treat Scores Three Goals In Loss

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team was defeated by #7 LIU-Post 15-9 at LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) led the Eagles with three goals and an assist on the day.

Treat gave Post an early 1-0 lead after the Eagles defense stopped the Pioneers with 12:55 left in the first. LIU-Post pulled in front 2-1 before Treat tied the game, but the visitors added another score and led 3-2 after a quarter.

Down 4-2, junior Alshariff Blackman (Easton, Pa.) picked up a groundball after a shot by LIU hit the post and cleared the ball back to the Eagles' offensive box. Out of a timeout by the visitor, Treat pulled Post within one on a circus goal as he was falling backwards. The Pioneers closed out the half outscoring Post 5-1 to take a 9-4 lead into the break.

Freshman Frank Nichols Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) scored the Eagles' only goal of the third quarter as Post fell behind 12-5.

The Eagles would not go down easily though as Blackman score with 12:00 left in the fourth. Sophomore Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) scored his team-high 22nd goal of the season to spark a three-goal run by Post in the final minutes of the game. Blackman and senior Brian Beatson (Falls Church, Va.) added goals during the stretch.

Senior Anthony DeRosa (Toms River, N.J.) made 11 saves in the cage. Classmate Matt Edwin (Stamford, Conn.) led Post with three caused turnovers. Junior Shane McKay (Hempstead, N.Y) had a goal and a team-high four ground balls.

Post returns to action Sunday afternoon at home against the University of the District of Columbia. Face-off at LaMoy is set for 1 p.m.
