Buchas and Treat Combine For 10 Goals

WATERBURY, Conn. – Behind a program-record 56 shots, the Post University men's lacrosse team took down the District of Columbia on Sunday afternoon 18-10 at LaMoy Field. Sophomore Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) scored six goals and dished out an assist to help the Eagles improve to 4-5 on the season.

The teams traded blows in the first quarter as the score was tied 3-3. Junior Colby Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) scored twice in the period for the Eagles, he finished with four goals and two assists on the afternoon. Freshman Frank Nichols Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) found sophomore Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) early in the second to break the tie.

After a score by the Firebirds, Treat scored his third of the game to put Post in front 5-4. He hit sophomore Luke McDermott (New Milford, Conn.) in the closing seconds of the half to give the Eagles a 6-4 advantage at the break.

UDC answered back to tie the game at 6-6 in early in the third quarter. Junior Shane McKay (Hempstead, N.Y.) picked up a ground ball after a save by the Firebirds' keeper and shot it past him to put the Eagles in front for good with 6:13 left in the third quarter.

From there the Eagles unleashed their offense and outscored UDC 11-4 over the final quarter and a half. Buchas scored all of his goals in the final two quarters, tying the second-most goals in a game in the two-year history of the team.

Junior Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) was 4-for-7 on face-offs and grabbed a team-high five ground balls. Sophomore Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) had three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Post committed a season-low 13 turnovers.
