Polaski Scores Four Goals In Loss To Caldwell, 12-10

Eagles Drop To 0-2 On Young Season

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Caldwell on Friday afternoon in a non-conference game at LaMoy Field. Senior Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) led the Eagles with four goals and an assist on the day.

The game went back and forth throughout the first half. Polaski put the Eagles on the board early, but the Cougars responded with a goal of their own. Sophomore Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) gave Post a 2-1 lead with 22:47 left in the first. Caldwell won the ensuing draw and quickly tied it.

The Eagles took their largest lead of the afternoon at the 15:27 mark of the first as Polaski and Young scored back-to-back to put Post up 4-2. The teams traded goals throughout the rest of the half. Caldwell's Emily Fey scored her third goal of day with just 13 seconds left in the period to put the visitors in front 7-6. Polaski won the draw and beat the keeper on a free-position attempt as time expired to tie the game at seven apiece.

Neither team could gain an advantage to start the second half as possession changed hands nine time over the first five minutes. Christina Gonzalez broke the tie with a free-position goal that sparked a four-goal run for the Cougars. Down 11-7, junior Jordyn Woltmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) found freshman Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) for her first goal of the season with 13:17 left in the game.

Rodriguez added another score with a man advantage with 4:46 left to cut the deficit to 11-9. After a goal by Caldwell, Young beat the keeper for her third of the game with 2:24 remaining as Post trailed 12-10. The Eagles took possession with about a minute left but were unable to score.

Post held a 26-21 advantage in ground balls led by junior Isatu Bangura (Elmont, N.Y.) with a career-high eight. Polaski had seven of the Eagles 13 draw controls on the afternoon. Graduate goalkeeper Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) made 15 saves in the cage.

The Eagles will look for revenge on Tuesday, March 17 as Caldwell returns to LaMoy for each teams' Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
