RINDGE, N.H. – The Post University baseball team was defeated by #9 Franklin Pierce on Friday afternoon 10-0 in Rindge, N.H. The Eagles pitching staff combined to strike out nine batters on the day, their second-highest total of the season.

Senior
Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.) allowed two hits and a walk over the first two inning, but held Franklin Pierce scoreless. The Eagles were unable to get anything going as they were sat down in order over the first two innings. Junior
Brian McKenna (New York, N.Y.) reached on an error in the third but couldn't advance past first.

The Ravens loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the third. Franklin Pierce opened up a 5-0 lead with three straight hits including doubles by Matt O'Herron and Chris LaVorgna. LaVorgna hit another double in the fourth to put the Ravens in front 8-0.

Freshman
Trey Fitzgerald (Jupiter, Fla.) hit a two-out double to center in the fifth for the Eagles first hit of the day. Classmate
Alex Wright (Butler, N.J.) led off the ninth with a single up the middle, but was caught stealing. Sophomore
Joey Picone (Washingtonville, N.Y.) drew a walk and advanced to second with one out in the inning. A strikeout and a groundout by Post ended the game.

Nick Arnold (West Islip, N.Y.) allowed two base runners and struck out three in 1.1 innings out of the pen. Graduate
Zach Batchelor (Monroe Township, N.J.) closed out the game for the Eagles with one hit and three strikeouts in one inning of relief.

Post looks to rebound against another Northeast-10 foe on Thursday, March 19 at American International in Springfield, Mass. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
