Eagles 0-1 On The Early Season

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team travels to Orlando, Fla. for a week to play six matches against a variety of opponents.

Post is coming off its first game of the season, falling to regionally ranked Queens 8-1. Senior Nicholas Tadros (Montreal, Quebec) and junior Peter Fanous (Cairo, Egypt) claimed the lone point for Post in second doubles defeating Federico Toscano and Sharvill Nawghre. Fanous was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honor roll for his efforts. ITA East Regional champion, freshmen Martin Munoz (Claret, Spain), had a tough fight at number one singles but his second set comeback ended in a loss to senior Christopher Baron 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

On March 2, the Eagles open with a faceoff against Grand Valley State. The Lakers are 2-1 on the season. In its two games last week, GVSU beat NAIA nationally ranked #17 University of Northwestern (Ohio) 7-2, but fell short in conference play against Ferris State 3-6.

The Eagles hit the courts on March 3 for two matches. Post plays Division III foe Ohio Northern who are 0-2 on the year. Both loses came early last week falling to Hope (Mich.) 7-2 and Luther (Iowa) 8-1. In the afternoon, the Eagles take on #41 Palm Beach Atlantic who came close to upsetting #7 Lynn before falling 5-4 in Sunshine State Conference action. The Sailfish are 1-2 losing to Rollins College 7-2 and defeating Florida Tech 5-3.

The following day the Eagles play another doubleheader. Post faces Division I Detroit-Mercy in the morning. The Titans are 1-5 where their only win came over two weeks ago, snapping four game losing streak, by defeating Wayne State 6-1. In the afternoon, Post faces another Sunshine State Conference foe, Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Tritons are in hunt for their first win of the year as they are 0-3.

The Eagles conclude their trip against last year's Great Midwest Athletic Conference runner up Cedarville (Ohio). The Yellow Jackets went 3-1 in the fall season defeating West Virginia State 9-0, Indiana-East 8-1 and Miami-Middletown 9-0.  Their only loss came to Findlay 9-0 in their season opener on September 16th.
