MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The Post University baseball team earned its first two wins of the season on Saturday afternoon against Alderson Broaddus in Morehead City, N.C. First year head coach
Ray Ricker earns his first wins at the helm as the Eagles improve to 2-2 on the year.

Game One – Post 3, Alderson Broaddus 1 After each team went down in order in the first, the Eagles got on the board in the second inning. Freshman
Don Walsh (Hamilton, N.J.) reached on an error to open the inning and advanced to second on a single by senior
Dylan Pastor (Hewlett, N.Y.). Both runners advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch Randy Dobnak. Freshman
David Sarmiento (Miami, Fla.) grounded out to the shortstop as Walsh put the Eagles ahead 1-0.

Marquis Collier tied the score in the bottom of the inning with a home run of Post starter senior
Don Crook (Meriden, Conn.). Neither team's offense could get anything going in the middle innings. Junior
Julio Velazquez (Bronx, N.Y.) singled in the fifth and classmate
Brian McKenna (New York, N.Y.) drew a walk to put two on with two outs, but a groundout ended the threat.

Freshman
Luke Leonardi (Holbrook, N.Y.) drew a walk to lead off the sixth and advanced to second on a sacrifice. Walsh made it to first on a dropped third strike and the Eagles put runners at the corners with two outs after Pastor grounded into a fielder's choice. Post pulled in front 3-1 on RBI singles by sophomore
Drew Deangelis (Robbinsville, N.J.) and Sarmiento.

The Battlers put two on in the sixth and one in the seventh but were unable to push across a run. Crook picked up the win, going five innings, striking out five and allowing four hits. Graduate student
Zach Batchelor (Monroe Township, N.J.) earned the save, allowing two hits and striking out three in two innings.

Game Two – Post 5, Alderson Broaddus 4 Sophomore
Joey Picone (Washingtonville, N.Y.) drew a walk to leadoff the first and advanced to third with just one out, but two strikeouts by Post ended the early threat. Chuck Hooker launched a one-out home run in the top of the second to put the Battlers in front 1-0. Deangelis walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch but was stranded there in the bottom of the inning.

The first two batters of the third for Post reached base on errors as the Eagles had runners at second and third with no outs. After a strikeout, junior
Erik Rodriguez (Miami, Fla.) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Walsh hit a sac fly to right and freshman
Alex Wright (Butler, N.J.) came home to tie the score 1-1. Graduate student
Mike Costello (Manassas, Va.) shut the side down in order in the fourth. He earned a no decision, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six in five innings.
Cody Cowart put Alderson Broaddus ahead 2-1 with a leadoff homer in the fifth inning. After a leadoff double in sixth, Collier hit his second home run of the day as the Battlers led 4-1. They loaded the bases with two outs later in the inning but sophomore
Evan Devico (Waterbury, Conn.) was able to get out of the jam.

Sarmiento singled after a walk by Walsh and an error to load the bases with one out in sixth. Freshman
Maxime Robillard (Blainville, Quebec) cut drove in two with a single to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the inning. Wright tied the game at 4-4 with a hit of his own. After a pitching change, Picone doubled in go-ahead run.

After a strikeout to begin the seventh inning, Devico walked the next batter. The Battlers grounded into a double play to end the game. Devico earned the victory in relief.

Post begins a weeklong seven-game road trip in Florida on Saturday, Feb. 28 against Lynn. First pitch is set for noon.
