WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team kicks off its season on Sunday, Feb. 15 it visits regionally ranked Queens College. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
Post is coming off its best season finishing at 8-11 overall and 3-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play which qualified the team for its first ever conference tournament appearance. The Eagles were selected third in the CACC Preseason Poll announced earlier this week.
The Eagles will try to earn their first victory against Queens. Last time both teams met, Post fell short 5-4 on March 14, 2014. The Knights are currently ranked eighth in the ITA East Regional rankings. Queens returns Second Team All East Coast Conference (ECC) honoree Christopher Baron. He led the Knights last season with 15 singles and 16 doubles victories. Queens is led by first-year interim coach Somadi Druker.
Post returns most of its roster from a year ago including sophomore
Alejandro Perez (Bogota, Colombia) who won a program-record 12 singles matches. The doubles team of senior
Nicholas Tadros (Montreal, Quebec) and junior
Peter Fanous (Cairo, Egypt) are also back. Freshman
Martin Munoz (Claret, Spain) who claimed the ITA East Regional singles title last fall and will make his spring debut.
The Eagles tough slate continues on Sunday, Feb. 22 as they visit ASA College. The Avengers won the Junior College National Championship last season.
