Men’s Basketball Clinches CACC Tournament Bid With Victory Over Chestnut Hill

Five Eagles Finish In Double-Figures

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –  The Post University men's basketball team clinched it 10th consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament berth with a 73-60 victory over Chestnut Hill on Saturday afternoon. Post can finish anywhere from first to fourth with two games remaining.

The Eagles found themselves down 26-20 at the half but shot 64.2 percent in the second half on their way to their second straight win. Freshman Joseph Lockwood (London, England) hit a layup after grabbing an offensive board with 12:16 left in the game to give Post its first lead since the 18:37 mark of the first at 37-36.

Post never trailed from there. Freshman Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) dunked home a three-point miss with 10:09 remaining to put the Eagles in front by four. Mareno finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds, his seventh double-double of the year.

Freshman Jah'sheme Ringgold (Easton, Md.) gave the Eagles a double-digit lead with 1:43 left with a three-point play. Ringgold recorded 16 points off the pine, 10 in the second half.

Post battled back from a double-digit deficit in the first half. After senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) nailed a three on the opening possession, the Griffins pulled ahead for the remainder of the first half. Billy Cassidy hit a three with 4:37 left in the first to put Chestnut Hill in front 24-14.

The Eagles held a 42-26 advantage on the glass and 15-4 in second chance points.

Post visits Bloomfield on Tuesday, Feb. 17 in its final road game of the season. A victory would move the Eagles into second-place in the CACC North Division. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
