Men’s Basketball Falls At Bloomfield, 80-70

Seymour Leads With 15 Points Off Bench



BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Post University men's basketball team was defeated by Bloomfield 80-70 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division matchup on Tuesday night. The Eagles remain in third place in the division with just one game remaining.
 
Junior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) led a trio of Eagles in double figures with 15 points off the bench. Freshman Malik Howze (Detroit, Mich.) and junior Brandt Voiles (Byron, Ill.) added 14 points and 13 points, respectively. Senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) dished out a season-high 10 assists.
 
Over the first 10 minutes of the game the lead changed hands four times and the score was tied five times. Bloomfield pulled in front by five early one, but five points by Voiles during a 7-0 run put the Eagles back in front. Neither team would lead by more than two after that until the Bears took control with 13 straight points going ahead 31-18 with 6:37 left in the first half.
 
Voiles hit two early baskets for Post in the second half to cut the Bloomfield lead to 41-34. With 15:04 left Howze made a three to cut the lead to six. The Eagles grabbed four of their game-high 21 offensive boards during the possession.
 
Howze drew a foul with 2:35 left the Bears leading 69-59. He made both free throws and then stole the ball, leading to a three-pointer by Bogues that cut the deficit to five points. The Eagles were down 73-67 with 1:10 remaining after Howze made three free throws, but were unable to get closer.
 
Bloomfield held a 41-37 advantage on the glass. Freshman Joseph Lockwood (London, England) had nine rebounds for Post. The Eagles forced 19 turnovers which led to 18 points; Bogues had five steals.
 
Post closes out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 21 at home against Georgian Court. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
