Bogues Leads Eagles Over Caldwell, 82-61

Senior Hits 8-of-9 From Distance, Scores 30

WATERBURY, Conn. –  Senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) scored a season-high 30 points to lead the Post University men's basketball team over Caldwell 82-61 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Tuesday night. Bogues was 8-for-9 from distance, tying the Eagles' single-game record.

Post jumped in front early and never looked back. Bogues hit a layup and then made a three next time down the floor as the Eagles led 16-5 with 14:01 left in the first. Caldwell closed the deficit to seven points, but two quick threes by freshman Travis Flagg (Queens, N.Y.) and Bogues extended the Eagles' lead back to double-digits with 11:10 remaining. He filled the box score with six rebounds, five assists, and two steals to go with his tremendous 9-for-12 shooting effort.

Flagg made two free-throws after a technical foul on the Cougars midway through the half. Freshman Frantz Dumas (Boca Raton, Fla.) made a steal on the ensuing possession and found junior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) for a layup and a foul. Seymour completed the three-point play as Post began to pull away, leading 29-15 with 9:40 left in the half. He scored 12 points off the bench on the night.

Seymour hit a late layup to give Post its largest lead of the half at 19 points and the Eagles took a 49-33 advantage into the break.

Bogues continued his hot shooting in the second half as he made three from distance over a span of 1:30 midway through the half to propel the Eagles to a 72-48 lead. He made his final three off a dish from freshman Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) with 2:58 left to give Post its largest lead of the game at 79-52. Mareno added 14 points and six rebounds for the Eagles.

Freshman Joseph Lockwood (London, England) scored eight points and grabbed 10 boards. Post held a 40-33 advantage on the glass, including 16-9 offensively which led to 20 second-chance points. The Eagles committed just eight turnovers while forcing the Cougars into 18 giveaways.

Post returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 14 as it visits Chestnut Hill. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
