Eagles Improve To 4-0 In CACC With 82-70 Win Over Caldwell

Desrosiers Leads Post With 20 Points

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team defeated Caldwell 82-70  in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at home on Tuesday night to improve to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play. It marks the Eagles best conference start since 2012-13.
 
Post opened a 13-6 lead in the first half as senior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) made two early threes. The Eagles led 22-11, their largest of the half, after freshman Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) found junior Malcolm Amos (Brookport, Ill.) for a jumper from the top of the key with 7:47 left in the half.
 
Caldwell chipped away at the deficit with a 14-4 run over the next five minutes to cut the Eagles' led to just one at 26-25. Post would pull in front by six before the period was over and led 31-29 at the break.
 
The Cougars continued to pressure the Eagles and took its first lead at 38-36 since it was 2-0 after two free throws by Brian Kenny with 16:43 left in the game. It didn't last long as Seymour nailed another from distance on the other end to put Post back in front. Caldwell would lead once more with a basket on its next possession.
 
Desrosiers scored six of his game-high 20 points to propel the Eagles to a 10-1 run from there as Post pulled away at 49-41 with 13:27 left. Caldwell cut the deficit down to just two points at the 8:39 mark after nailing threes on the three consecutive possessions, but Post quickly had its lead back up to double digits. The Eagles led by as many as 17 points down the stretch.
 
Five Eagles scored in double-figures along with Desrosiers. Seymour (14), Okros (12), sophomores Joseph Lockwood (London, England) and Jah'sheme Ringgold (11). Desrosiers also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out three assists. Seymour added four steals.
 
Post continues its homestand on Saturday as the Eagles host Dominican at 3 p.m.
