Eagles Take Down Bloomfield 91-66 in CACC Opener

Desrosiers Scores 18 of game-high 24 in second half

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – A 20-6 run over the final five minutes helped the Post University men's basketball team pull away from Bloomfield on its way to a 91-66 in each team's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Wednesday night. The Eagles are now 1-2 on the young season.

Sophomore Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lead Post. Freshman Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

Post grabbed the lead for good with 14:38 remaining in the first half after a second-chance layup by sophomore Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) put the Eagles ahead 11-10. Okros had five straight points and grabbed a steal midway through the period as Post built a 21-13 advantage.

The Eagles led by as many as 19 in the first half and went into the break with a 43-27 lead.

Post continued to maintain a double-digit advantage throughout the start of the second half. Desrosiers' first of four second-half threes put the Eagles in front 49-36 with just under 15 minutes left.

Bloomfield would not go quietly as the Bears used a 13-4 run to climb within six at 59-53 with 9:05 remaining. Post silenced any doubt as Mareno hit a jumper to spark an 8-0 run. Desrosiers scored 11 points during the final run as the Eagles led by as many as 27 points late.

Three Eagles finished in double figures along with Desrosiers and Okros. Sophomore Jah'sheme Ringgold (Easton, Md.) added 14 points off the bench. Mareno and sophomore Joseph Lockwood (London, England) each had 10 points.
