Eagles Win CACC North With 3-0 Victory Over Dominican

Post Will Host Chestnut Hill or Holy Family in CACC Tournament

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Post University women's volleyball team defeated Dominican 3-0 to close out the regular season on Tuesday night. With the win, the Eagles clinched at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division title for the second year in a row.
 
Post (22-9, 15-4 CACC) used a 9-0 run to jump out to a 12-3 advantage in the first set. Junior Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) had three of her six kills during the run. Junior Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) and senior Kristine Ripson (Youngstown, N.Y.) combined for all the points during a late 7-0 run as the Eagles took the first set 25-11.
 
Dominican stuck with Post at the beginning of the second set and trailed by just two at 13-11. The Eagles scored nine of the next 11 points as they climbed ahead 22-13. Ripson smashed home her third kill of the set to give Post a 25-15 win.
 
The third set was never in doubt after Post turned a 2-1 deficit into an 8-4 lead. Senior Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) and Brown assisted on a block and dropped kills to help build the advantage. The Eagles never trailed from there and used a late 7-0 run to take the set 25-13.
 
German led Post with 12 kills to go with four digs and three blocks. Brown had six kills and four blocks. Junior Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) led all players with 15 digs. Freshman Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) added 28 assists and an ace.
 
Chestnut Hill and Holy Family face off in Philadelphia on Thursday with the winner earning the final tournament bid in the South Division and a match against Post in the first round of the CACC Tournament. The Eagles will open the tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Drubner Center.
