RINDGE, N.H. – The Post University men's soccer team won its fifth straight game on Wednesday night with a 2-0 victory over Northeast-10 foe Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H. The Eagles improve to 7-4 on the year.
Senior
Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) put the Eagles in front with his second goal of the year in the 43
rd minute. After a turnover by the Ravens in their own box, Moura took control of the ball and booted it to the top-left corner of the net from 15-yards out.
Franklin Pierce kept the pressure on the Eagles throughout the second half and had five corner kicks over the course of seven minutes of play, but the Post defense stood strong.
Graduate student
Anthony Asante (Bronx, N.Y.) gave the Eagles some insurance in the 76
th minute as he beat the keeper from the top of the box for his team-high eighth goal of the year. Franklin Pierce had three late shots on goal, but junior
Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) stopped them all for his third shutout.
Senior
Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) had four shots for the Eagles, who were outshot 16-13 on the night.
Post welcomes #17 LIU-Post to LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Eagles defeated the then-#1 Pioneers in the last matchup between the two in 2013.
