PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University women's volleyball team won its 20
th game of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division rival 3-0 in Philadelphia. The Eagles have won five straight, with the past four coming in shutout fashion.
Junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) and senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) each had a kill as Post used a 7-1 run to open an 11-5 lead in the opening set. The Griffins battled back to tie the score at 22 before German smashed a kill and a block to help the Eagles take the set 25-23.
Freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) held serve for seven straight points as the Eagles turned a 6-3 deficit into an 11-6 lead in the second set. Root had two aces during the run and forced a Chestnut Hill timeout. Out of the break, Post continued its dominance and a kill by junior
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) put the Eagles in front 19-8. Post went up 2-0 in the match as it won the second set 25-13.
Senior
Kristine Ripson (Youngstown, N.Y.) had a kill and block to help Post jump ahead 13-7 in the final set. The Griffins closed the gap to three points late, but the Eagles scored the final three points of the set, capped by a kill from German to close out the match.
German and Ripson each had a match-high 10 kills. Root added 29 assists, 10 digs, and two aces. Senior
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) had an ace and 21 digs.
Post returns home for the final time on Wednesday, Nov. 4 against Concordia. First serve at Drubner is set for 7 p.m.
