WATERBURY, Conn – The Post University women's volleyball team won its fifth-straight home match on Tuesday night 3-0 over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Felician. The Eagles improve to 18-8 overall and 11-3 in conference play.
After trailing 3-2 out of the gate Post dominated the rest of the first set and reeled off a 21-2 run. Senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had six kills in the set as the Eagles won 25-8.
The teams traded points to start the second set and the Eagles found themselves ahead 10-7 after a kill by junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.). Post extended its advantage to 15-10 with great defense as Griffin had a solo block and German, freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) and senior
Kristine Ripson (Youngstown, N.Y.) added block assists. Ripson scored a kill to give the Eagles their largest lead at 20-14 as Post took the set 25-18.
German had two kills and block early in the final set and Post built an 8-4 advantage. Felician answered back to tie the score at 10 before the Eagles scored five straight with help from a kill and block by junior
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.).
Hailey Griffin had two of her match-high 13 kills down the stretch as Post took the final set 25-16.
Junior
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had eight kills, three block assists, and 16 digs on the night. Ripson added eight kills and four blocks. Brown was great at the net with two solo blocks and five assists. Alvarez recorded 16 digs and a team-high two aces. Root put up 33 assists and 11 digs.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday night at home against Nyack. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
