LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Post University men's soccer team defeated Georgian Court 2-0 on the road Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown. With the win, the Eagles clinch a home match to open the conference tournament.
Sophomore
Vinicius Lelis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) headed home a corner off the foot of senior
Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) in the 24
th minute for the first goal of the game. Lelis has now scored two of the last three games.
Post had three more shots on the goal the remainder of the half, but could not extend its advantage. The Eagles outshot the Lions 6-3 in the first half.
Graduate student
Anthony Asante (Bronx, N.Y.) put the game away with a goal in the 77
th minute. Asante took a feed from senior
Jacob Butler-Bowdon (Adelaide, Australia) beat the Lions' keeper to the left side.
Georgian Court held a 7-5 advantage on shots in the second half but junior goalkeeper
Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) made three saves in the period to keep the clean sheet.
The Eagles return home on Tuesday for the final time in the regular season against Bloomfield. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
