Post Loses Heartbreaker To Franklin Pierce

Goal In 83rd Minute Is The Difference

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University Eagles dropped a heartbreaker to Franklin Pierce, 1-0 at LaMoy Field on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference game.

With the loss, the Eagles move to 8-5-1 overall, and remain 8-1-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Franklin Pierce is now 7-7 overall and 4-7 in the Northeast-10.

In a physical contest, both teams were unable to get any clean shots at the net through the first half as possessions would die in the final third on both ends.

After similar play to begin the second half, Post had an opportunity to score as junior Sylvia Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) found freshman Jen van Alphen (Hudson, N.Y) cutting towards the net, but van Alphen's shot went just wide in the 78th minute.

Franklin Piece would then capitalize on their lone clean opportunity as Hannah Weagle cut down the left side and put a low shot just outside the reach of senior goalkeeper Laura Morgan's (Brush Prairie, Wash) arms and into the far corner of the net to give the Ravens the 1-0 lead in the 83rd minute.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC road game at Georgian Court on Saturday for a noon start.
