CALDWELL, N.J. – After dropping the first set, the Post University women's volleyball team bounced back to defeat Caldwell 3-2 on the road Wednesday night in a battle for first place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division. With the win the Eagles sweep the season series from the Cougars.
Post struggled to start the match at Caldwell opened a 14-4 lead in the first set. The Eagles returned the favor and fought back to pull within one at 19-18. Junior
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) started the rally with two kills and block during a stretch of four straight Eagles' points. Senior
Kristine Ripson (Youngstown, N.Y.) also had a block and two kills. Post was unable to get any closer as Caldwell took the opening set 25-20.

Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had two kills and a block assist during an early 7-0 run as Post jumped ahead 12-8 in the second set. The Eagles led by as many as six at 18-12 after a kill by junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.). Post scored five of the last six points to take the set 25-18.
The Eagles scored the final six points in the third set, winning 25-23, to pull ahead 2-1 in the match. Senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had five kills during the set.
Post led 21-17 in the fourth set after four straight errors by the Cougars forced them to call a timeout. Caldwell outscored the Eagles 9-3 the rest of the way to force a fifth set.
Each team had a 5-0 run in the final set. Post pulled ahead early 10-5 before Caldwell tied the score. The teams traded points from there until they were knotted at 12. Two kills by German and one by Ripson gave Post the match with a 15-12 victory.
The Eagles defense was stellar with season-highs for 116 digs and 14 total blocks. Senior
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) led the team with a career-best 38 digs. Brown added nine blocks to go with nine kills.
German recorded 17 kills and 19 digs. Ripson and both Morgan and
Hailey Griffin each added 12 kills.
Hailey Griffin also had 21 digs while Morgan added 18 digs and seven block assists. Freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) had 58 assists, 12 digs, and four kills.
Post returns to action on Saturday at home against CACC South-leading Philadelphia. First serve at Drubner is set for 1 p.m.
