PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University women's volleyball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) cross-division match 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Holy Family. The loss was the Eagles third in their last four games after previously winning nine of 10.
Post fell behind 12-8 in the first set. Two kills each by freshman
Sarah Seger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) helped lead a comeback as the Eagles tied the set at 15. The Tigers scored four straight from there and Post never came within three points the rest of the way as HFU took the set 25-20.
Junior
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) scored a kill in the second set to put Post ahead 9-4. The Tigers chipped away at the lead and used a 5-0 run with help from two bad sets by the Eagles to jump ahead 13-12. Blocks by German, Brown, and junior
Heaven Daluz (New Haven, Conn.) led the Eagles back in front at 19-16. Holy Family took control of the set, scoring the next seven points on its way to a 25-21 win.
The teams traded runs to start the third set. The Tigers went up 8-2 early, until Post closed the gap to just one at 9-8 with help from kills by German and senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.). Holy Family then jumped in front 18-10.
The Eagles would not go down easily as junior
Kerrin Kallmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) scored three aces in a 7-0 run. Griffin launched three kills down the stretch at Post took a late 22-21 lead. Holy Family scored four of the last five points to take the match.
German had 12 kills to lead all players. She added eight digs and a block. Grffin had 11 kills. Senior
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) recorded 16 digs. Freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) put up 31 assists, 11 digs and two kills.
Post returns to action on Wednesday night as the Eagles visit Caldwell. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
