Men’s Soccer Unbeaten Streak Snapped Against #20 Wilmington

Eagles Defeated 2-0 In CACC Contest

NEWARK, Del. – The Post University men's soccer team was defeated 2-0 on Saturday afternoon against #20 Wilmington in a matchup of the top two teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The loss snaps the Eagles' seven-match unbeaten streak.

Neither team could break through in the first half, but Post held a 3-2 advantage in shots. Sophomore Armando Filho (Cataguases, Brazil) had the only shot on goal for either side in the opening period.

Wilmington got on the board in the 66th minute as Clifford Nwechefom found the back of the net. Just under three minutes later Josh Fawssett redirected a shot into the goal to put the Wildcats ahead 2-0.

"The guys battled today and I thought we were the better team in the first half. In the second half things were even until they got the goal, which gave them confidence and they controlled us from there," said head coach Ted Haley

A late header by sophomore Vinicius Lelis (Belo Horizone, Brazil) was saved as the Eagles were unable to mount a comeback.

"We will regroup and have a great week of training. I know that we haven't played out best soccer yet and hopefully we will peak at the right time," added Haley.

The Wildcats narrowly outshot Post 9-8 and held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Filho had two shots for the Eagles.

Post returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 24 on the road against Georgian Court. Game time in Lakewood, N.J. is set for 2:30 p.m.
