Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lelis and Asante Score Twice In 5-1 Victory Over Felician

Eagles Unbeaten In Last Seven Games

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's soccer team got off to a quick start on Wednesday as it defeated Felician 5-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game. The Eagles are now unbeaten in their last seven matches.

Graduate student Anthony Asante (Bronx, N.Y.) put the Eagles on the board in the second minute on a penalty kick after Felician was called for a handball in the box. Just over a minute later sophomore Vinicius Lelis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) headed in a corner off the foot of senior Gustavo Ferreira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). The goal was the first-career score for Lelis.

Felician cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth minute as Rafa Coronel headed home a cross. The Eagles kept the pressure on and in the 16th minute Lelis found senior Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) near the net on a lead pass from 30 yards out and the senior connected to put Post in front 3-1.

Asante added his second goal of the game and 10th of the season in the 33rd minute off a cross from freshman Andre Riello (Sao Paolo, Brazil).

Lelis capped his career day in the 65th minute with another score off a corner from Ferreira. The Golden Falcons added a late goal for the final margin.

The Eagles controlled play from start to finish and outshot Felician 21-6, including 10-2 on goal.

Post visits #20 Wilmington on Saturday afternoon in a key CACC late-season matchup. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
