WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over Dominican on Tuesday night to improve to 15-7 on the year and 8-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. The Eagles have now won three in a row at home.
Junior
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) had four early kills as the Eagles opened up a 9-3 advantage in the first set. Post took its largest lead of first set at 21-11 after a kill by senior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) and rolled to a 25-16 win.
The second set was the closest of the night with Post coming out on top 25-20. With the score 12-11 in favor of the Eagles, two Dominican errors helped start a 7-2 run for Post as they began to pull away. German had a block and two kills for the final three points in the set.
Dominican jumped in front 7-6 to start the final set, but Post answered with a 7-1 run, capped by an ace from senior
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) to pull ahead 13-8. The Chargers closed the gap to two points until a 6-0 run by the Eagles opened it back up at 21-13. German had two aces and
Hailey Griffin smashed two kills during the run. Post took the final set 25-15.
German led Post with 16 kills on the night and added six digs.
Hailey Griffin had nine kills and 10 digs. Alvarez added a game-high 15 digs and an ace. Freshman
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) connected on 39 assists and 9 digs. Junior
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) added eight kills and 10 digs.
The Eagles are on the road for two matches beginning on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Holy Family at 5:30 p.m.
