Three-Pointers Lead Post Over Felician, 69-64

Eagles Make Season High 13 From Distance

RUTHERFORD, N.J. –  The Post University men's basketball team picked up a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory on Wednesday night as it defeated Felician 69-64. The Eagles maintain their position atop the CACC North as they improve to 7-3 in conference play and 8-8 overall.

Down 43-38 in the second half, freshman Jah'sheme Ringgold (Easton, Md.) brought the Eagles back in front. He hit a layup off a dish by classmate Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) and then forced a turnover on the other end and was fouled. Ringgold made both free-throws and, after a 10-second violation by Felician, nailed a jumper to put Post in front 46-43 with 10:53 remaining.

Marko Kozul hit from distance on two straight possessions for the Golden Falcons as they built up another five-point lead with 8:14 left. Freshman Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) made a three off a pass from senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) to cut the deficit to 54-52. After two free-throws by Felician, Desrosiers found Bogues from deep and pull Post within one with 5:21 remaining.

The Eagles were 6-of-7 from distance down the stretch and junior Brandt Voiles (Byron, Ill.) hit a three with 2:10 left to give Post the lead for good. Junior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) put the Eagles in front by 66-62 with 47 seconds left with a three. Mareno had two of his season-high six blocked shots in the final minute to help preserve the victory.

The teams traded leads throughout the first half. Post scored six straight points early in the period to take their largest lead of the game at 17-10. Felician led by five points with two minutes until the break, but the Eagles closed the half out with a 10-2 run to take a 35-32 advantage into halftime. Freshman Malik Howze (Detroit, Mich.) scored all six of his points during the run.

Voiles led Post with 13 points and made four three-pointers. Mareno and Ringgold each added 10 points off the bench. Freshman Joseph Lockwood (London, England) grabbed nine boards. The Eagles made a season-high 13 three-pointers in the victory.

J.R. Pringley had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Felician.

Post returns home on Saturday, Jan. 24 against the top team in the CACC South Division, Holy Family. Tip-off at Drubner is set for 3 p.m.
