Eagles Volleyball Soar to Second Victory of the Season

Wilman Leads Way With 12 Kills, 17 Digs

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - The Post University women's volleyball team records its second win of the season in a non-conference match against Molloy College. The set scores were 25-23, 25-17, 16-25, 25-17, as the Eagles won in four sets, 3-1.

Junior Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) led the Eagles with 13 kills; following suit right behind her was the always dangerous Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) with 12 kills and 17 digs. The service from sophomore Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) was lethal as she recorded four service aces.

In the first set, Post came out to an early 5-1 lead but allowed Molloy to creep back into the set. Both teams traded runs, and Molloy was able to take the lead 23-22. Post rattled off three straight points to win the set 25-23 with key blocks from German and sophomore Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.)

The two teams battled neck and neck in the second set until Post took a 9-8 lead. From that point on, the Eagles never trailed in the set with a kill by senior Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia), that proved to change the momentum of play. The Eagles went on to win the set 25-17.

The third was all Molloy, as Post wasn't able to find a rhythm with five straight Lion service aces by Danielle Williams.

The Eagles went on a 10-2 run in the middle of the final set to jump out to a commanding 15-7 lead over the Lions and never looked back. Wilman and German recorded two kills at the end of the set to claim another Eagle victory.

Post improves to 2-1, as Molloy College falls to 1-4 on the season.

The Eagles return to action this weekend with a four game slate at the Courtyard By Marriott Invitational Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla. Post will be facing off against Fort Valley State on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m.
