Post Wins Thanks To Another Hat Trick From Dennis

Becomes Second All-Time Leading Scorer In School History

Waterbury, Conn. -
Senior Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) became the second all-time leading goal scorer in school history as she scored a hat trick to lead the Post University women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at LaMoy FIeld.

It was the third game this season Dennis scored three or more goals. She now leads the CACC with 12 on the season, which matches a career high she set in 2012. Her 34 career goals puts her only behind Holly Costa (Class of 2003), who scored 50. Rachel Shivers (Class of 2010) is third with 31.

The Eagles got on the board in the 14th minute as Dennis took a lofted pass from junior Lexxi Carroll (Plainville Conn.) and put it past goalkeeper Jordan Jansen as she came out of the net. In the 32nd minute, Dennis beat Jansen again, this time from the close corner, putting the Eagles up, 2-0.

Post went into the half up 2-0 before Dennis scored again in the 53rd minute, as she took a lofted pass over the head of the defense from senior Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.), giving her the hat trick.

The Eagles now stand at 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the CACC, putting them in first place. With the loss, the Warriors dropped to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the CACC.

The Warriors lone goal came in the 80th minute from Diana Hernandez, who scored on a penalty kick that beat junior Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.). Carroll finished with one save on the day. Junior Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.) played the first half in net.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC home matchup against Wilmington at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 at LaMoy Field.
