Waterbury, Conn. - A late goal by senior
Alison Mrowinski (Syracuse, N.Y.) vaulted the Post University women's soccer team to its second straight win as it defeated Wilmington, 1-0 at LaMoy Field on Friday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
The Eagles are in sole possession of first place at 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the CACC.
In the 73rd minute, Mrowinski took a header from senior
Tessa Dunster's (Stamford, Conn.) corner and put it behind goalkeeper, Julia Brown for her first goal of the season, which couldn't have come at a better time for the Eagles.
The normally fast starting Eagles found themselves struggling to get shots off, as they took just four in the first half, with only two of those shots being on target.
Junior
Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.), however, was equal to the task, keeping the Wildcats scoreless, as she stopped four shots in the first half.
The second half started much like the first, as both teams had limited offensive opportunities before Mrowinski's goal.
Junior
Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) came on in the second half to stop three shots.
With the loss, the Wildcats are now 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the CACC.
Up next for the Eagles is a road game at Felician on October 7 at 5 p.m.
