Post Suffers First CACC Loss

Rodriguez Scores For Eagles

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Post University women's soccer team suffered its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss of the season as defending regular season conference champion Holy Family defeated the Eagles, 3-1.

The Eagles are now 5-2-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the CACC. The loss also snaps a four-game winning streak.

The Tigers jumped on the board early as Ashley Shackleford took a pass from Jenna Richards and beat keeper, junior Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.) to put the Tigers up 1-0 in the ninth minute. It was the sixth goal of the season for Shackleford.

Post responded in the 40th minute, as freshman Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) beat goalkeeper Kacie Booth for her second goal of the season.

The game would go into halftime with a 1-1 score.

After the break, Holy Family's Brittany Robinson took a pass from Shackleford and beat freshman Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.), who made a diving attempt to save it on the far side in the 58th minute.

The score stayed close for the next 27 minutes, bur Kimer Kisselback scored her sixth goal of the season in the 87th minute to put the game away for the Tigers.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the CACC.

Morgan finished with three saves for the Eagles. Carroll finished with one save. Booth finished with 10 saves for the Tigers, with six of those saves coming of the foot of CACC leading goal scorer, senior Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.).

Post outshot Holy Family, 21-14.

Up next for the Eagles is a home game against Nyack on September 30. The game is slated to start at 12:30 p.m. at LaMoy Field.
