History
Waterbury, Conn. - Senior
Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) put on another scoring clinic, scoring four goals for the Eagles (4-1, 3-0 CACC) Â in a 5-1 romp of Goldey-Beacom Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game. It was the second straight game for Dennis with three goals or more.Â
Dennis started her ambush on the Lightning at the 17th minute, taking a pass from freshman
Angela Ciaramella (Hamden, Conn.) after a turnover. Dennis put it in on the right side. In the 28th minute, Dennis put her second goal in easily with a wide open shot from the right side of the box, putting the Lightning in a 2-0 hole.
Since scoring with her feet has become too easy, Dennis decided to use her head, taking a beautiful cross from
Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) and heading it home in the 51st minute for her eighth goal of the season and third of the game.Â
The final score for Dennis came in the 69th minute as sophomore
Valerie Moore (Bloomfield, Conn.) put a ball over the shoulder of Dennis who used her speed to beat two defenders and put it home for her final goal, and ninth of the season. Dennis leads the CACC in scoring with nine goals.
Freshman
Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, NJ.) scored in the 86th minute taking after sophomore
Sylvia Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) and senior
Brina Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) set her up.
The lone goal from the Lightning (1-3, 0-3 CACC) came from Nicole Curry, who scored on a penalty kick in the 29th minute. Junior
Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.) had five saves for the Eagles. Freshman
Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) played the second half and had two saves.
