Volleyball Earns First Conference Victory

Eagles Defeat Nyack 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn.
– The Post University women's volleyball team picked up its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win of the season as the Eagles defeated Nyack College in their home opener at the Drubner Center. The set scores were 25-23, 25-20, 25-16 as the Eagles swept the Warriors in three sets.

Sophomore Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) led all scorers with 17 kills and one block. Sophomore Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) also recorded double digit kills with 11 in the match as senior Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) organized the Eagle attack with 32 assists.

With a packed crowd on hand, the stage was set for a dominating performance by the Eagles. The first set came right down to the wire as both teams battled down the stretch to end up in a 23-23 lock. German, the two time CACC Player of the Week, came through with a clutch kill to give the Eagles the lead. Post went on to take the first set 25-23.

Play picked up right where it left off with high intensity effort from both sides. The second set was capped off with an emphatic block by sophomore Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) as the Eagles won the set by a five point margin 25-20. The third set was showcased by hardnosed defense and effective offensive play in a true team effort to win the final set 25-16 and defeat the Warriors 3-0.

Post evens their conference record at 1-1 and improves to 5-4 on the season. Nyack remains winless as they sit 0-3 in conference play and 0-9 overall.

The action continues Tuesday, Sept. 23 as the Eagles travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on American International College in a non-conference matchup. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
